Plenty of Interest…. (groups)

It looks to be a very ‘Interesting’ 7 days at the Athenaeum with no less then 4 of our Interest groups meeting next week.

On Tuesday 18th February we have two meetings to choose from with the Theatre & Cinema group screening the classic ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ in the Wine Servery at 1:30pm. Running along aside on the 18th will be the inaugral meeting of the new Science & Medical Group where Dr Guy Sutton will talk about Genetics and the meeting will consider areas about which proprietors would like to hear, the frequency and timing of meetings and how the Group can move forward.

At 2pm in the Wine Servery on Wednesday 19th the History group has its first meeting of 2014 when Dr George Wyatt gives a talk on “Jeremiah Horrocks – Liverpool Prince of Astronomers”.

The week comes to a close on Thursday with the Architecture group meeting in the Library at 2pm where our very own Proprietor Jim Bellew will provide a maritime prospective on things architectural with a talk titled – “All at sea with Architecture?”

To continue our varied calendar of Interest group, the Arts group is doing something a little different with their meeting this month when Colin Simpson Principal Museums Officer, Wirral will give a talk at a lunch on Monday 24th February.

Moving on into the beginning of March the Literary group meetings on Wednesday 5th March in the Library at 1:30pm for a Short Story Reading.

And last but not least, the Music Group. Following Cheniston Roland stepping down as chair of the Music group, it has been agreed the group is set to resume it’s monthly meetings on the 1st Friday of the Month. Each meeting will be chaired by a different+ Proprietor, starting with Wallace Fields on March 7th at 2pm in the Wine Servery. We hope that with a different chair every month, we will create an exciting, varied calendar throughout the year. If you would like to host one of the group’s meetings please liaise with Jack Birley.
