SUMMARY:The Athenaeum & Bluecoat Afternoon Tea
DESCRIPTION:Bluecoat & Athenaeum Afternoon tea (£12.50pp) \nArtists talk with Jacqueline Scholes (Silversmith) \nTuesday 28th October \n1:00-1:30pm \nFrom an early age I have been fascinated by beautiful objects. I am interested in their form and function and the materials from which they are made. I like to   handle these objects and have always had a desire to acquire the skills to make them. With my aspirations I have pursued a career as a silversmith at University and later self employed for two years at Bishopsland Workshop. This was an opportunity to develop ideas for tableware and learn a great deal through taking part in exhibitions and creating designs for clients. Feeling the need to develop as a designer led to my applying to the Royal College of Art. I    derive satisfaction from making objects that are  elegant and    people actually use and enjoy. I find working with metal particularly fulfilling\, enjoying its permanence and    indestructibility. I take my inspiration on the one hand from organic natural forms and on the other from     mechanical and structured elements that are all around us.   I am attracted to the contrast of the two concepts. The function of tableware is an important part of my designs.  I look at the relationship between food and tableware and the interaction between the user and tableware. \n
