SUMMARY:Literature Group
DESCRIPTION:Dr David Rice of the University of Liverpool has kindly agreed to talk to us about Surrealism in Literature. While many of us will be familiar with the art of twentieth century Surrealists\, fewer will be aware of the movement’s role in literature. Dr Rice\, who is a member of the Surrealist Group that meets in the club\, will focus on Nadja by French poet and novelist Andre Breton (1896-1956). Breton was also responsible for the first Surrealist Manifesto\, so it might be helpful to have a look at that before the meeting. \nBoth books are easily available (in translation) from Amazon. I’m sure we can all look forward to an entertaining and enlightening meeting.
