14th February, 2018 Inherit the Wind,

The film is based on the “Monkey Trial” in the South in the 1920s, where a young teacher  was prosecuted for teaching the theory of evolution. Frederick March plays the prosecutor and Spencer Tracey defends the young man. It is an absorbing and intelligent movie on a topic which is still relevant in the USA at least. The surprise in the film is Gene Kelly, who plays a hard-bitten reporter, very unlike his usual roles. If you haven’t seen it, the film is highly recommended.
