Step inside and join us on a very special tour of Liverpool’s oldest private members institution. The Liverpool Athenaeum is a veritable sanctuary hidden away in the heart of the city centre. The club dates from 1797, a time when Liverpool was truly the second city of the British Empire. It was, and continues to be a place of education, of culture, of business and an escape from the stresses of the modern world.

Many of Liverpool’s most influential figures have walked through its doors such as social reformer William Roscoe, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Duncan, renowned architect Sir James Picton and many more. Now is your chance to follow in their revered footsteps as you discover the secrets of this most esteemed society.

Your tour will be led by one of the club’s learned proprietors who will reveal to you the remarkable heritage and fascinating collections within one of the world’s most illustrious organisations.  This remarkable visit will conclude with High Tea as you relax in the unique setting of this very exclusive cultural oasis.
