Opera Update
In consultation with the Club Secretary Jack Birley, and after taking into consideration the probability of further restrictions being imposed after the Christmas and New Year festivities, I have decided not to set a new date for the Sir David Maddison Opera Prize to be performed during January.
As soon as a new date is set for the Opera prize contest, I will circulate full details to the Club’ s membership, until then thank you all for your patience and continued interest.
Mezzo Soprano Naomi Rogers who is one of the RNCM students lined up to contest for the Sir David Maddison Opera Prize has just completed filming a new production of the opera Cinderella staged by The Northern Opera Group, the production was well received and met with critical acclaim.
Cinderella is being screened by the Vimeo performance platform at 2pm on Saturday the 12 December and the following is the link to book your access to watch the performance online;
Molly Barker, our winner of the inaugural Sir David Maddison Opera Prize, has been busy with Opera North, and you can catch her in a filmed concert from Leeds town hall in which the world-famous Elizabeth Llewellyn appears towards the end of the concert. Look out for Molly in the chorus on the right of the stage. Molly of course is booked to reappear at the Athenaeum on April 16th next year in a showcase performance that I will be producing.
